Chris Cobbold joined TVM Capital in 2001, and is a Partner in the firm's technology investment practice. He focuses on investments in telecommunications, internet infrastructure, semiconductors and components. Mr. Cobbold works actively as an Observer on the board of Ubidyne and is currently a director of Silicon Hive and CommProve. He led TVM Capital's investment into Azea Networks, which was acquired by Xtera Communications in November 2007 and is an Observer on Xtera's board.
Prior to TVM Capital, Mr. Cobbold was an Engineering Manager at Telus Mobility in Vancouver. His experience in mobile communications spans wireless data, network planning, deployment and optimization. He was involved in the start-up phase for newly licensed mobile operators in South Korea, Spain and Belgium. Mr. Cobbold also worked in the Toronto office of Andersen Consulting, designing and implementing logistics and technology solutions for a large retail client.
He holds a B.Sc. and M.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University and the University of British Columbia, respectively. He received an MBA degree from INSEAD in 2001.
