Ubidyne Named GSMA 2010 Mobile Innovation Grand Prix Global Champion

MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS 2010—BARCELONA, SPAIN— FEBRUARY 17, 2010 -- Ubidyne, the leader in radio technology for the wireless industry, announced today that the company was named the Mobile Innovation Grand Prix Champion at this year’s Mobile World Congress for its breakthrough Antenna Embedded Radio™ technology.

Ubidyne’s winning innovation, the Antenna Embedded Radio, provides a better, more cost effective way for mobile network operators to transmit broadband signals to subscribers using next generation networks. The Antenna Embedded Radio shrinks inefficient analog circuitry down to inexpensive modular digital circuits that attach directly to individual antenna radiators. This breakthrough micro-radio architecture is developed with low cost semiconductor process technology which results in significant cost savings in network deployment, simplified site acquisition and performance improvements that enhance coverage and capacity for consumers.

Ubidyne’s Antenna Embedded Radio is enabling technology that will allow mobile network operators to deliver optimal performance and quality of service while slashing network CAPEX and OPEX costs. Ubidyne’s technology supports advanced antenna techniques such as transmit diversity, MIMO and beam forming capabilities that are required for optimal LTE network performance and enable dynamic signal control with the use of the company’s software solution. This enables network operators to provide site-by-site and sector-by-sector network optimization providing the highest possible data rates to each subscriber under any and all channel conditions. Due to Ubidyne’s unique radio beam-pattern control capability, terminal battery life is dramatically extended allowing subscribers to play games, watch videos and access their favorite social networking websites without recharging their laptops, netbooks, iPads or handsets.

“It is a great pleasure and a privilege to accept the coveted Mobile Innovation Grand Prix Award. It is truly an honor to be recognized among some of the brightest minds and the most respected companies in the mobile industry,” commented Ken Hawk, CEO of Ubidyne. “We want to thank the many network operators, OEM basestation providers and antenna partners that have worked with us to make this technology vision become a reality. We look forward to fundamentally changing the radio architecture of mobile communications to provide a positive impact on both mobile network operators and mobile consumers with our full-scale, global launch of the Antenna Embedded Radio late this year.”

According to the GSMA judging panel: "Against a broad spectrum of finalists, this years winner's winner for the global GSMA Mobile Innovation Grand Prix illustrated innovation, creativity and global impact. Our industry faces enormous pressures to deliver smarter and more cost effective networks. Smart antennas are a tough course to follow, and our winner has been pursuing this journey with what appear to be great benefits, resilience and technical innovation. It was a tough decision for the judging panel but our winner demonstrated great potential to advance our core business and we are proud to announce Ubidyne are this years stand out GSMA innovation winner."
