VPIsystems Maintains Leadership Position Among Next-Generation Network Planning Solutions

OSS Observer Report Names VPIsystems the Leading Network Planning Supplier in Wireline

Holmdel, NJ (August 18, 2008) - Telecommunications analyst firm OSS Observer, an Analysys Mason company, has named network planning provider VPIsystems as the overall leader in wireline network planning. According a recent report, Network Planning Outlook - July 2008, VPIsystems has a "strong integrated OSS vision and strength in market-driven planning." The firm also recommends that communications service providers (CSPs) evaluate integrated network planning solutions like VPIsystems' OnePlan to gain a competitive advantage by offering "new services faster and with less capital cost."

OSS Observer analysts forecast that the market for network planning software will grow to reach $291 million by 2012, driven in part by the need "to support the introduction and growth of new content services that require much more data networking capacity." The report further indicates that large North American CSPs are making new network investments to support next-generation technologies and are "putting more emphasis on planning and controlling these investments" using next-generation network planning solutions.

"In today's capital-constrained, competitive environment, CSPs are and will increasingly be investing heavily in network planning solutions to help minimize capital expenditures, while delivering high quality of service in next-gen services as they undertake more complex network build-outs," said Larry Goldman, co-founder and senior analyst at OSS Observer. "Wireline CSPs especially will benefit from network planning solutions like those offered by VPIsystems to become more efficient and respond quickly to changing market conditions."

OSS Observer cites next generation network build-outs and bandwidth-hungry mobile services as drivers of network planning adoption. The firm also recommends that CSPs "should be evaluating how they can better integrate network planning into their overall operations to gain a competitive advantage."

"OSS Observer's research and recommendations reinforce the value integrated, market-driven, flow-through network planning is bringing to carriers like BT and Telstra," said Hank Firey, president and CEO of VPIsystems. "This report shows that the market is heating up, and VPIsystems has maintained its leadership position, continually demonstrating the competitive advantage CSPs can gain by incorporating proper planning into their network build-outs."
